January 2023 – FRWRD Completed Phosphorus Removal Facilities
The District has completed the construction of over $60 million of improvements at both the North WRF and Albin D. Pagorski WRF to provide for phosphorus removal at these facilities. The improvements include biological phosphorus removal in the aeration process as well as struvite sequestration in the biosolids process. At this time, effluent phosphorus from the plants target meeting an annual average limit of 1.0 mg/L TP. The West WRF already provides both phosphorus and total nitrogen removal.
