FRWRD's Wastewater Treatment Process

Photo of the Fox River

Water is one of the most valuable resources. The Fox River Water Reclamation District plays an important role in preserving this source for future generations. Many people understand the need for clean water but are unaware of the important steps that are taken to secure this resource.

After the water is flushed down your pipes from your home, school, or business, it travels through interceptor sewers to one of the Fox River Water Reclamation Facilities. This is the first step in the process of returning clean and sanitized water back into the water cycle.

Learn about the four different processes involved on the treatment of wastewater. Each step is provided in detail on its journey to be recycled back into the environment of the Fox River below.
